International Agriculture Symposium

AGROSYM is, since eleven years, an annual platform for international scientific discussion on agriculture, food, rural development, environment and forestry. AGROSYM represents a good opportunity to exchange ideas, to strengthen existing and to create new academic networks, and to foster dialogue between the academia, public institutions, the private sector and civil society organizations on the recent global and regional trends in the agro-food sector.

We are proud to present a representative from CIHEAM Bari Italy that is going to participate to this event. They are a partner in de IoF2020 project.

On the 11th of October, Simona Giordano is going to speak about “Table grapes in Apulia region OF ITALY and IoT: innovation and sustainability."

In short

In a context of increasing economic competition, Italy is certainly the cradle of excellent agro-food products, recognized and appreciated at global level. Among them table grapes play a vital role in the panorama of Italian production.

The adoption of Internet of Things (IoT) devices and, specifically, the creation of an IoT network to monitor the complete supply chain of table grapes, from field to fork, is of great importance and interest.

Generally speaking, IoT devices and network allow farmers to monitor and optimize the growing behavior of grapes and ripening, jointly with the amounts of fertilizer and pesticides used, as well as the irrigation process.

The present contribution aims at conducting an in depth analysis of the Internet of Food and Farm 2020 (IOF) project use case in Apulia region and its implications for the future enhancement of sustainable (organic and integrated) cultivation of table grapes.
