Interview with Marjolijn Sonnema

The global agri-food system is faced with the daunting task of feeding the growing world population. Challanges include food security, food safety and sustainable food production using less inputs. Precision agriculture has the potential to provide solutions to these challanges for the benefit of all. This is why the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs supports the Internet of Food & Farm 2020 (IoF2020) project and closely follows the results achieved.

We asked Ms. Marjolijn Sonnema, Director-General of DG Agri & Nature at the Ministry of Economic Affairs of The Netherlands, to share her post-2020-vision of the European agri-food sector as well as her views on the role of precision agriculture and IoT solutions in this context.
