Interview with Cristina Micheloni

Vegetables account for 10% of the total agricultural output in the European Union (EU). In order to maintain this level of output at a sustainable level, vegetable production needs to address the growing concerns of the sector as a whole. This includes challenges such as weed control, efficient disease/pest management and soil fertility.

IoT solutions can help the sector become more sustainable through process automation and by using an intelligent combination of sensors and data analysis. We asked Ms. Cristina Micheloni, Agronomist at Valoritalia and ecosystem trial chair of the Internet of Food & Farm (IoF) 2020 vegetables trial, to provide us with a glimpse of the solutions that will be developed in the vegetables trial over next four years.
