21st GiESCO International Meeting

The 21st GiESCO International Meeting (Group of international Experts for Cooperation on Vitivinicultural Systems) will be held between 23 and 28 June 2019 in Thessaloniki, Greece.

The Meeting will cover the main fields in viticultural research and innovation focusing on vine ecophysiology, vineyard management, grape and wine quality, and sustainable production. A professional day will also be included, with the aim to summon attendees from the private sector and strengthen the exchange of knowledge and information between researchers and end-users.

The Meeting will be also the occasion to visit important vineyard areas of north Greece. North Greece hosts numerous indigenous and international grape varieties under diverse soil, climate and topography conditions, offering a variety of terroirs and wine styles.

Moreover, north Greece has been a leading area in viticultural management innovation in Greece. In addition to technical visits, the rich cultural and historical heritage of Thessaloniki will be integrated in the Meeting's program. Finally, a two-day Post-Congress Tour will provide an option to extend the meeting program by a combination of visits to sites of both viti-vinicultural and touristic interest.
