FACCE-JPI workshops “Technologies” and “Big Data"
The Joint Programming Initiative on Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change (FACCE JPI) is holding twin explanatory workshops on “Technology” and “Big data” in Copenhagen from 21 to 22 November.
An EU-funded network of national agricultural and environmental research agencies, the FACCE Joint Programming Initiative was set up with the view to tackling fragmentation in Europe’s research activities on agriculture, food security and climate change.
Scheduled on November 21, the workshop on technologies will focus on the uptake of climate-friendly solutions for primary agricultural production. The workshop will gather researchers, stakeholders and policy makers and will deliver a report and recommendations identifying next steps to the FACCE-JPI Governing Board.
One day later, on November 22, the workshop on big data will explore the potential role of big-data for food security. The emphasis will be laid on collecting data, translating data into information, and promoting and facilitating use of the information by end-users (incl. via open data/knowledge policies).
