Conference: Internet of Things, a brave new world for consumers?

BEUC, the European Consumers Organization, is welcoming you in Brussels on 28 November 2017 to discuss the opportunities and risks of the Internet of Things (IoT) for European consumers.

As an increasing number of household products get connected, BEUC will shed light on the role of consumers organisations to address the threats of the IoT revolution and leverage its benefits.

With a close-up on the issues of privacy, competition, consumer rights, contracts, safety and security, the conference will be structured around the following questions:

  • How should these organisations respond to the challenges of the Internet of Things?
  • What action is needed to keep abreast of the technical challenges of a connected world?
  • How can consumer organisations continue to provide product advice for consumers?

An umbrella group for 43 independent national consumer organizations from 31 countries, BEUC supports the empowerment of consumers through balancing the principle of competitive EU markets with strong health and safety safeguards.
